Fun in the dark

There is a possibility that only I will enjoy this video simply because so much of it is in the dark. However, who doesn't love a kid playing with a flashlight and trying to open a toilet in a pitch black bathroom?

We were pretty grateful that Gideon's doctor made it to his 15 month check-up today.  When I called to make the appt the receptionist told me that today is the day she has in the baby pool for the twins to be born.  Oddly enough we almost didn't make it due to Mac's train malfunctioning.  Gideon charmed everyone as usual and the shots were a battle, but all is well that ends well.  Here are the official 15 month stats:


wt: 27lbs 10 oz (80th percentile)
ht: 32.2in (80th percentile)
head: 19.2in (90th percentile)

His height is hanging steady in the 80th, his weight dropped a bit but his head is still quite the noggin.  Go Gideon! 

True Story

Here is a story that is going to make every parent of a toddler nod and sigh.  Mac was putting up yet another baby gate (The number one sign we were not planning on having children when we bought this house? 4 flights of stairs!) and Gideon was, of course, "helping."   At one point I saw Gideon carrying around a giant screw that was part of the gate so I said "Take that to daddy" and to my surprise he started toddling in that direction.  Mac saw Gideon coming with the screw in hand, but his hands were full and he couldn't take it.  Fast forward to Mac trying to finish installing the baby gate when he realizes he is missing an integral part- a giant screw.  We both recalled seeing the baby with it but neither recalled what had happened afterwards.  We spent the next hour tearing the house apart, asking Gideon where he put it (I even handed him a pen and stalked him to see what he would do with it), and questioning our sanity ("did I take it from him?", "did he ever have it?", "is any of this real?").  Finally I got down on my hands and knees and crawled around the house at Gideon level, opening cabinets, searching under furniture, and revisiting every spot that had already been searched but from a lower vantage point.  My first discovery was the yoga DVD I lost a week ago and actually reordered (luckily the package was damaged in transit, thank you gods of fate), then part of the camera case that we havent seen in months, and finally the large screw, in Noah's Ark (my mother later pointed out that it made no sense for it to be there because there was only one (ha ha ha)).  So I guess the moral of the story is to craw around your house at baby level once a week?

And it was...*drum roll please*... Shoes!

He has to put on shoes to go outside (his favorite place) and has gotten very good at bringing shoes to me when asked.  As we were getting ready for lunch with gramma CC I could have sworn he said "Choos"  but when I told Mac he was skeptical.  I still thought he had said it so while we were putting on his jammies I grabbed a shoe and after just a little bit of prompting we got the cutest little "sssss-oo?"   Smartest boy in the world!!!!!!

Members Only!

Gideon and I are now members of the coolest club around, that's right, we are now ZOO MEMBERS!

We went to the zoo with our besties Emily, Flint, Lyla, Michelle, Violet, and Aidan and while there decided that we wanted to be like the cool kids and join the zoo.  Now we can go whenever we want!

It was a really fun day and I am so glad to have good friends to do this kind of stuff with.

I love seeing them together like this.  We all tried to get pregnant at the same time and now we all have beautiful babies!

Aidan is the sweetest big brother, he ran over and said "I want my picture with my sister!"
