Coloring

Today I get to post a photo of whatever I please and I was very pleased to get this shot.

Technically Gideon is probably too young to be coloring, although he does seem to be getting the whole "cause and effect" aspect of it even if he lacks the motor skills. I was helping him make lines on the paper today and when I stopped he reached over and took my hand like "come on lady, I need your help here." Mac is such a talented artist and a large part of me hopes that Gideon inherits that skill, no harm in fostering creativity early right?

Smart boy

Okay this may not necessarily meet today's photo challenge criteria of "from a distance" but this is too cute not to share. He has figured out that if he holds Chloe's toy she will come closer to him. What a smart boy.

As for the challenge I think this works, I mean he is convincing Chloe to come towards him "from a distance", right? Right?

In other news Gideon is still a snot factory but he is keeping down solid foods (thank god, mama was getting a little gun shy), taking naps, and no longer has a fever. You can tell he is still not happy about being sick but he doesn't have that weird fever feeling or the need to be constantly comforted.

Oops

So apparently I got my days mixed up and did the wrong photo challenge yesterday. Oops. Luckily it is my blog and I can switch the days if I want to. :)

Today's (yesterday's) challenge: silhouette

This was tough, you should see all of the outtakes and I am still not sure it turned out all that great. Well, he is great, it just isn't all that silhouette-tastic.

And just for fun here is another picture close up (yesterday's may have been kind of lame)

Not tooooo close

Gideon has continued to feel sick, so much so that we decided we could not go to Aidan's birthday party today. We hate to miss out on all of the fun but Gideon was up all night again and he really needed today to rest.

Today's challenge is to take a picture of something up close. It is probably not a good idea to get too close to Gideon right now, but I did manage to get a picture of him diverting himself with the Ikea catalog between boughts of pitiful whining and and an inability to be put down.

His rosy cheeks are from his low grade fever, poor little boo boo.

Family Breakfast

Last night was a very long night. As I sat in the dark rocking Gideon to sleep I found I actually didn't mind. It has been a long time since Gideon has fallen asleep on me. He much prefers his own crib and has never slept in our bed. Mac came in and said it was time for us to go to bed and for a moment I tried to rationalize a way that I could sleep in the rocking chair with Giddy. I think it was best for both of us that I finally relinquished him to his crib.

This morning Mac made pancakes for everyone, including Gideon, who joined us at the table for the first time. It was really nice to sit there together and Giddy even ate a few bites of pancake.

The photo challenge for today was to get a pic from a low angle. This is as low as I managed to get today:

Whatever I please

Today the photo challenge is to post whatever I please. Today was stressful. Gideon has had a little cold that has kept us up a few nights but seemed to be on the mend this morning. That was before he threw up...a lot. I will spare you the details. So here is a picture taken just before things took a turn for the worse. Isn't he cute?

p.s. I don't know if he will ever get to wear those jammies again (ew) so I am glad we got a pic.

Day 4

The photo challenge dictates that today we have to take a picture from "a high angle" so I climbed on a chair...

and then I tried to take a pic from the top of the stairs

You will notice he is sitting. He has sat up on his own twice before, both times in his crib when I wasn't looking. Today he decided that sitting was pretty awesome, but even more awesome was laying down, rolling, sitting, crawling forward, laying down, rolling, sitting....you get the picture. I couldn't help but giggle as he gyrated around the living room looking very proud of himself.

9 month appointment

Our 30 day photo challenge asks that today we post a picture of Gideon's favorite place to be. Unfortunately, Giddy started his day at his least favorite place, the doctor's office. Don't get my wrong, he loves Dixie and Dr. G (they are very awesome) but finger pricks and shots are at the top of his "Do Not Want" list.

9 month check up stats:
Weight - 23pounds 12.5ounces
Height - 29.6 inches
Head circumference - 18.5 inches

...he is in the 90th percentile across the board, which honestly does not come as a surprise to, well, anyone.

With that out of the way I had to consider his favorite place. Where is it that he is always happy? Where does he want to be? Of course he loves snuggling with mamma and daddy but he often wriggles out of our grasp in order to scoot around the room. And then it dawned on me, Gideon's favorite place is exactly where he shouldn't be, i.e. under the furniture

Day 2

Day 2 of the 30 day photo challenge will officially end Halloween on this blog. Tomorrow Giddy and I will be taking down Halloween decor, watching A Muppet Christmas Carol, and finding holiday recipes. Halloween is a lot of fun but I prefer Thanksgiving.

So, without further ado, here is a picture of what Gideon is wearing today:

We are getting as much use out of these jammies as possible.
