Cousin Liyah's birthday was Friday so Saturday we celebrated with hot dogs, cupcakes, and lots of fun! Bethany has been working on this party for weeks and it turned out fantastic! Seriously, Beth could be a party planner. She had blown up pictures of Maliyah and had books of pictures and milestones for everyone to read and of course awesome princess and butterfly party decorations, cupcakes and cookies! It was a really wonderful day celebrating a wonderful little girl!

Stomach Plague
We have now experienced our first stomach plague and may be inducted into the club of parents who have been covered in several different kinds of contagious bodily fluids and who have perfected their bathroom run through the gauntlet of children's toys and items you are trying to save from the aforementioned fluids. I won't go into details but I would like to make an official request that it never happen again. The projectile phase lasted about 12 hours but the miserable phase went on for days, poor kiddo. I suffer from emetophobia which makes me a particularly bad mother in these situations so I was relegated to vomit clean up, tons of laundry, and trips to the store for pedialyte, rice, and bananas... and panic attacks, lots of those. Mac was a rockstar, Gideon and I are both incredibly lucky to be loved and cared for by such a wonderful daddy and husband.
Luckily you can't keep Gideon down for long and as soon as he felt strong enough he executed a perfect dork move by spending a significant period of time walking around inside the hamper.

At the Gardens
I recently found out about a local photographer who does pictures of kids at the pumpkin patch in the arboretum, and since I have always wanted to visit the arboretum pumpkin patch we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! After the pictures we wandered the gardens and ooh'ed and ahh'ed over the Dale Chihuly exhibits, great view of White Rock Lake, and interesting of assortment of artist themed houses.
Mac got more and better pics but they are on his phone which he selfishly takes to work with him everyday. Crazy. So maybe more to come later.
Also worth mentioning are the EXCELLENT pictures taken by Bella Jewel Photography (http://www.bellajewelphotography.com/). I was nervous that 15 mins wouldn't be enough time to get good pics, I was so wrong, Gideon's silly little personality totally shined through.

Video Round-up
I grabbed the flip cam today to take a video of Gideon and realized it had been a while since I had bothered to actually take any files off of the camera. So now I present to you a video round-up:
The phone is ringing and, surprise, surprise, it's for Gideon!
What can I say, he loves the simple things in life, like being picked up by your pants.
For some reason Mac started touching Gideon's nose with the spoon and saying "Beep" when feeding him yogurt (probably because Daddy's number one goal in life is to make Giddy smile). Now that Gideon feeds himself yogurt he is doing the same thing. Let's hope this ends before the school cafeteria.
This video is too long and I have been avoiding posting it because I thought I would edit it down. Now over a month has passed while I still haven't found the time but it is too cute not to share, even if it does seem to go on forever. I present to you, toddlers playing ring around the rosie. (near the middle Peyton adopts an adorably dramatic style of falling)

Uncle Jason!!!!
Uncle Jason had a 3 hour layover at DFW so the family descended upon him like a plague of locusts. Or like something else nicer, like a plague of cupcakes or something. We met at Fuddrucker's for lunch (yum) and then went over to Bass Pro to look at fish and hunting bows (surprisingly fun). A good time was had by all and I am beyond excited about Jason, Crystal, Nathan and Ali coming down for Christmas.

Bike Curious
We are now a family with bikes! In true Edwards style we bought all of the accouterments before actually riding our bikes so we now have gloves, water bottles, water bottle mounts, calirometer, a pouch to hold our things, bells, lights, etc. Today was out first ride and I have to admit it is very different from riding my bike as a kid. The 8 year old me sailed down steep hills and flew around blind curves. 30 year old me took a corner a little too fast and almost peed herself. The bike trailer was really the best part of the whole deal. We ran into some friends at the park last week and Gideon tried out their trailer and fell in love which is perfect because now he can come on bike rides with us.
Helping daddy get the bikes ready |
Just needs a small adjustment |
Safety first! |
Its nice because this can actually hold two kids |
Protected from rain, wind, and bugs |
A quick pit stop at the park |
We made all made it through our first ride in one piece! Now we are officially a bike family! |

Going to Work
Yesterday Mac left for work a little late which meant we said our goodbyes while Gideon was eating breakfast instead of walking daddy to the garage and waving bye bye as he drives away (at least, I wave, Gideon watches, solemn faced). Gideon was totally unsettled by this, didn't eat a bite more of breakfast, and wanted to go in the garage afterwards, I assume to look for daddy. Today we made sure to have some bye bye and waving time before daddy left which made for a much better morning.
An impending rainstorm meant I had to bring Giddy's car inside and he flipped the cute switch and started pretending to be daddy (at least that is what I think he was doing).
It is good to know that we are making some impression on him.

Picnic
We had a picnic in the living room (there was no tea).
Gideon set the table
Fed James
Gave Pooh a drink
And then stole all the forks and ran away
